Welcome to my art page!

Being an artist has always felt less like a choice than something that is a part of who I am, guiding a studio practice that has evolved over the past fifty years. Inspirational subjects that have captivated me with a matched passion are philosophy, theology, and history; a few favorite readings being: the writings of Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, The Tibetan Book of The Dead, and (most recently) The Books of The Christian Bible. Because I’ve always been obsessed with the question of what exists beyond human perception, I have made it my life’s mission is to materialize the answer through painting.

In what is best described as an entropic-adjacent painterly process, each work is developed over long periods of time (even decades!) in teasing out the compositions that I pray will ultimately deliver an iconography of ‘evolved silhouettes’ that otherwise rarely break the surface of my subconscious, and which begin to answer the transcendental inquires that haunt me.

The blank canvas or page is a metaphor for the stilted pituitary ocean.

This drive to expose something that cannot be confirmed with my naked eye, that seemingly barely exists in my mind’s eye, and which I am disinclined to explore through maths (except as content in the art) has led me to develop an emotive approach in mark-making; where I am able to materialize such studies and meditations rhythmically with the techniques of scumbling, stippling, and knife work in a chiaroscuro of layering. A hither world emerges as I ‘sneak up’ on mutated lines, churned out by patterned fields of colour.

Castles, Caves, Time Travel, and the residual Nineteenth and Twentieth Century Mendacities (that continue to plague civilization today) are categories of inquiry manifested in a visual kaleidoscope of possibility. Each artwork is a product of these ongoing investigations; where the depth and harmony of color fields expose skeletal frameworks that could be perceptible to all of us who share this Earthen Human Legacy.
